When the Son(Sun) Tries to Kill the Moon and the Darkness
The sun glistened on the water in the foutains of Rivendell. Only birds could be heard in the distance except for the sudden cry that suddenly arose in the air: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" Luna, Kerowyn, Meahan, Legolas and Elrohir were sitting quietly when the horror riden scream lept into the air. The door flew open and Elenwe dashed in, eyes clampped shut and flushed slightly. She ran behind Luna, using her friend as a sheild.
"Wha-What are doing?!" demanded Luna, as Elenwe tugged on her robes. Meahan and Kerowyn had worried expressions.
"Are you alright?" asked Meahan.
"She's just being weird like usual--she can let go any time now--but she's fine." said Luna, even though she wanted to know what had caused this as well.
"The hell I'm fine!!" shouted Elenwe. Elladan walked in with a half puzzled, half amused grin, with Iodhil behind him.
"Jeez, Elenwe... I didn't think you would freak out that much." said Elladan.
"I told you not to do it, Elladan. When she murders you later, don't come crying to me." Iodhil said, shaking his head. Kerowyn cocked her head to the side,
"What did he do to you, Elenwe?" Elenwe still stayed behind Luna, fretting that the creature was still in Elladan's care. She pointed at him with furosity,
"That bastard put bugs all over my scthye!!" They all blinked.
"Wha-? Um, Elenwe... Why is that a problem?" asked Meahan, just a tad confused. Luna raised her hand,
"Oh, believe me. It's a problem." Iodhil filled her in, Elrohir and Legolas in about the insedent on the way to Lothlorien. "You didn't track any in with you did you, Elladan? The last thing we need is her seeing more." Elladan, shook his head, resisting the urge to chuckle. "Alright. Elenwe? You okay?" Elenwe stepped beside Luna and nodded her head.
"Yeah... I guess." Luna stared at her.
"Are you sure you're not going to freak out? --I mean, are you still jumpy about bugs at the moment?" said Kerowyn. At the word "bugs" Elenwe drew out her main dagger and surveyed for the evil menace.
"Oh, yeah. She's jumpy." retorted Luna. She set her hand on her friend's shoulder, "Let's go to the practice field, there we can work it off. We were just about to go out there anyway." Elenwe smiled at Luna.
"Thanks." she then turned and glared at Elladan. "I'd sure like to kick your ass right now." Elladan shrank backwards slightly as Luna guided her to the door,
"I think it would be better if you fought somebody else."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wind glided through the air, gently moving the hair of everyone on the practice field: Luna, Elenwe, Kerowyn, Meahan, Iodhil, Legolas and the twins. Meahan and Kerowyn leaned against the wall, ready to watch them of a while. "Alright." said Elrohir, "Who against who?" There were six of them and they rather have two one on one matches at once than everyone. After a few moments of diving and discussing they decided the first two matches: Luna vs. Iodhil and Elenwe vs. Elrohir. Elladan and Legolas walked over and joined the other girls to watch. The matches were going to consist of basic single sword weaponry and the opponents readied themselves. Elenwe tapped her foot in a dirt patch in the grass,
"Are you ready to eat the grass, Elrohir?"
"Just as long as you're ready to go flying..." he joked. Iodhil chuckled and looked at Luna,
"What no 'visions' from you?" Luna scoffed,
"Do I need one? The outcome is obvious." Everyone else shook their heads. Legolas raised his arm signaling the ready and as soon as his arm went down, the swords went up. Elenwe charged at Elrohir, but Elrohir dodged to the right, moving only slightly. He brought down his sword, expecting to get her in an early forfit, but she blocked and forced him back.
"Come on! That all you got, Mellon?!" said Elenwe. They each brought down their swords heavily and were caught in lock, neither wanted to relinquish any ground to the other, pushing their opponents sword hard with their own. Luna's and Iodhil's match seemed to have a simular beginning. Both had charged, casting swords back, then jumping back to the left. They repeatedly did this a few times, jumping from here to there, while the other two were stationary. Suddenly as they brought their swords forth away, Iodhil swung at Luna's feet with the flat side of the sword. Luna jumped up, dodging, and kicked Iodhil back in the chest. Iodhil landed a few yards away on his back. As Luna adjusted her sword. Elrohir and Elenwe seemed to be locked for eternity.
"What... Arn't you going to give up?" Elrohir grunted, he was surprised at his struggle to stay put. Elenwe scoffed.
"Yeah, right.... Like I'm gonna let you win...." With that Elenwe twisted her sword sharply causing Elrohir to loosen and jump back a few inches. Elenwe slid back a few yards and rotated her wrist. Elrohir breathed out heavily, she could have cut off a few of his fingers if he hadn't moved, but that was what Elenwe was gunning for. Everyone watching had the same passing thought pop into their minds. "Both Luna and Elenwe put their effort into practice as if they were on the battle field." Elladan spoke, reading all of their minds,
"And Elenwe use to really push it when she first got here, remember when she almost took off my head?" Kerowyn nodded.
"Plus Luna was like that until she cut my hand back when we were younger. Then she let up." Meahan giggled.
"But it's nice to see that they think these matches really mean something." Elladan, Legolas and Kerowyn sighed.
"Yeah, well, say that when you're the one fighting them." they said in unison. Luna was posing for an attack while Iodhil sat up, sword defending. And Elenwe stretched her wrist mockingly as Elrohir set up a strong defense. Luna began to charge when she and Elenwe heard a faint whistle. It was a creepy, piercing noise, slinking in taking their focus and their minds. Elenwe stood, facing down, with her sword daggling at her side. Luna stopped mid-charge to fall to the same pose.
"Guys?" said Legolas. They each at that moment lifted their heads, exposing the same cold look not befitting either of them. Luna, who was diagonal from Elrohir, suddenly charged him with a death stanse, while Elenwe rushed to the wall, making her way to Elladan.
"Luna--What are you--?!" shouted Elrohir, before having to block for his life. Luna jumped back as he did so and took the same death pose. Elenwe took out a potion of the wall swinging for Elladan's head as she had done before. Kerowyn, Meahan and Legolas moved and Elladan ran into the field, grabbing his sword.
"Jeez, Elenwe... I know you're angry for what I did, but don't try to kill me!!" Elenwe didn't say a word and neither did Luna, they just continued to attack the twins, aiming with in deadly sort of fashion.
"Luna?! Elenwe?! What is wrong with you!!" shouted Kerowyn.
"Stop it!!" yelled Meahan. Iodhil and Legolas grabbed their swords, ready to aid their friends, when Elladan called them to stop. Elenwe had cut his shoulder, drawing blood, he grasped it as he yelled.
"Wait! Something is wrong! Elrohir, look in their eyes!!" Luna rushed Elrohir bringing her sword down hard from above her head. As they sat locked Elrohir looked into her eyes. He shuddered. Her eyes were completely black and lifeless, unseeing to what was really in front of them, but with a sense of pure blood lust. He thrust her against a tree. Elrohir then noticed that when their two friends were forted off, they took their time in recovering, like zombies.
"What should we do, Gwador?! What is wrong with them?!" He shouted as Elladan continued to dodge Elenwe's swings,
"If they havn't gone mad, then I do not know!! We must restrain them somehow!"
"And how are we going to do that?!" shouted Legolas.
"I am working on that part!!" With that Elladan thrust Elenwe back hard, sending her into the pond. Elrohir decided to copy his brother, when Luna charged he slipped to the side and let her go blindly towards the water. Elenwe surfaced coughing and gasping for air.
"I could've drowned!" she said to herself. She looked up to see the figure of Luna, sword raised heading straight for her. Elenwe screamed and dove deep under water as Luna came crashing in. Kerowyn and Meahan ran to the sides of the twins. Luna surfaced as Elenwe had done before as Elenwe merely bobbed up.
"What *cough* is going on?"
"You could've just killed me, that's what's going on!!"
"Wha-? No, I didn't."
"Say that to your sword, which almost took off my head!!"
"Elenwe, shouldn't we figure out why we're in the pond first?! (I mean, I always try to kill you!!)"
"You--Uh--...Why are we in the pond?" Luna shook her head. Everyone walked up to the water. Elladan put his hands on his hips,
"I guess you're both back to normal...."
"Normal...?" said Luna. They both climbed out, dripping wet from head to toe and a little more than miffed.
"Are you saying you don't remember attacking us?!" stammered Elrohir.
"We wha-?" Luna and Elenwe said in unison. They turned to each other and then looked at the ground. They didn't remember a single moment of the danger they had inflicted upon their friends. And when confronted with the injuries, such as Elladan's arm, they still didn't remember. Kerowyn and Meahan looked at each other: this was not good. They fixed a few quick turnoquets for the twin's cuts and rushed to Elrond's study. Elrond himself was stunned at what he heard, he thought it improbable.
"So, tell me, what is the last thing you remember?" he asked, setting them in front of him. They thought.
"Well.... there was... a sound. ...A whistle." Luna turned to Elenwe,
"You heard it too?!" Elenwe nodded.
"Describe the noise." commanded Elrond. Luna continued.
"Well... it was faint... like from a distant, but I could tell it was close by... it was so erie..."
"It felt like it was creeping over me.... chills ran through me." said Elenwe. No one else had heard the whistle and no one else had acted like a lunatic, so Elrond came to the conclusion that the noise was the cause. He sat pondering to himsself in his chair, finally he sighed and spoke.
"...I cannot, however, conclude if this is an isolated insodent or if it will happen again... for now all four of you go to the healing wing... my sons need healing and perhaps you two are suffering from a physical illness." They nodded and left as he commanded. The others followed.
They sat on the beds in Linwe's healing chamber watching her quickly mend the twins. When she finished, she then turned to Luna and Elenwe. After examining them and asking dozens of questions, she sat down beside them.
"You two are perfectly healthy... and from what I can tell, nothing has happened to you..."
"But--" Kerowyn started. Linwe held up her hand.
"I know. This just means that it is most likely a single occurance..." Linwe said calmly. Everyone still looked unconvinced, but they would let it go. The group left and went down to dinner, where they were greeted by friendly 'hellos' and the like. The group sat down, and the meal began. Conversation was scarce among the friends, they all had that day's incidents on their minds, when Luna threw down her fork.
"Since everyone keeps staring at me like I have sprouted another head, I'll go to better company...myself. I'll see you all tomorrow." Luna stormed out of the dining hall and to her cottage. Elenwe shot one last dirty look around the table and stood.
"I think I am going to join her." Elenwe said coldly, and also left the room. On the way to the cottage that she and Luna shared, Elenwe fumed. 'How could they think we would try to kill them! How! They know us better than that, don't they?!' Elenwe opened the door of the cottage and was greeted by a blast of cold air. She shivered. "Dammit. Luna!!!" There was no answer, so Elenwe decided to put a fire in the grate, all the while muttering about elves and their lack of perception of the cold. "She could have at least put a fire in the grate for me." Elenwe sat back as her fire grew and crackled merrily in the fireplace. The door opened, and Luna walked in. Elenwe half smiled to herself...that was why there was no fire in the grate...Luna hadn't even been in the house!
"I'm going to bed." Luna said, and made her way to her bedroom, and slammed the door shut, and that was the last time Elenwe saw her that night. Elenwe shook her head, and sat by the fire a little while longer, reflecting on the events of that day. She was absolutly positive the noise had something to do with it. She yawned.
"Alright...it's to bed for me." She muttered, and walked to her bedroom and went to her soft bed. She wrapped herself in her blankets and fell asleep.
All of Rivendell was quiet and asleep as the dim stars hung in the sky. The group were all in their beds dreaming peacfully in a motionless slumber. However through the ever slight crickets a single haunting sound began to echo softly. Elenwe yawned in her sleep and snuggled down farther into the sheets. Luna twitched and rolled over, flinging a pillow off of the bed.
Down in the dark and silent halls of the Last Homely House a door creeked open. Out shuffled a dreery eyed Erestor, he slowly tottered down the way yawning. He found his way to the closed door of the bathroom and entered. A discreet clinking started, but the flushing noise overcame it as Erestor stepped out. ((Okay... We know they don't have in door plumming, but there was no other way to do this...)) His eyes still saged and he began to shuffle back to his room when the clinking sounded again. Erestor sleepily turned around as he yawned.
With in Elrond's chambers, and probably most of Rivendell, the sudden and horrid shriek of a little maiden was heard. Elrond bounded up to sitting position and then ran into the hall, he saw that he was joined there by the Elrohir, Kerowyn, Lindir, Juri and the Mirkwood princes. Moments later he peered a disshevled Meahan and a disshevled Elladan run from down the hall.
"What's going on?!" Elladan asked, out of breath. Elrond raised an eyebrow at the two as Iodhil said,
"That's what we want to know!" They heard another yell as they saw the image of Erestor come flying from down another corridor. He ran straight to Elrond and in quickened breath attempted to say something, but to no avail. As Elrond told the emotionally distraut Lord Advisor of Rivendell to calm down a chain scthye came like lighting and barely missed Erestor's head as he ducked. Everyone's heads snapped to the direction of the assult to see none other than Luna and Elenwe armed and ready for the kill.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Elrond demanded. But his question fell on deaf ears. Luna and Elenwe were out for blood and had that same cold and shaking look in their eyes. They began to slowly make their way towards Erestor and Elrond. Lindir pulled Kerowyn aside and out of their way.
"Guys?! HEY!!! What is wrong with you???!!!" Legolas shouted.
"They're like before!!" Elladan yelled.
"Great! What do we do?!" Iodhil shouted.
"You think I know?!" Elladan said running to the aid of his father.
