Not Your Typical Elf
~~~Three months later~~~
Legolas, Elladan and Iodhil were standing next to the river talking about this and that, when Legolas noticed a flicker of color in the reflection on the water. Then all three sensed something moving around them....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luna, Elrohir, Kerowyn and Elrond were congrigated in a random upstairs chamber, talking. "You're almost healed now, I'm glad none of your injuries will be long term." said Kerowyn, looking at Luna.
"Yeah, I'm glad too, it'll be a week until I'm completely--" Luna's voice was stopped by a loud crash that came from down the hall.
"What was that...?" said Elrohir. Another loud noise covered the answer of "I don't know." and they looked towards the open doorway. All of a sudden, a girl with perculiar clothing and black hair up in a high pony tail dashed around the corner and past them. As she ran by Luna, time seemed to slow ((Ha ha! Slow motion!)) and she looked back at Luna who stared on very confused. Time finally found it's self again and returned, just in time for them to see Legolas, Elladan and Iodhil run around the corner, Legolas didn't look to happy & Iodhil was tring not to laugh as hard as he could. As Legolas ran past them he slipped and fell on his back with a big thud. Everyone stared down at him, Luna, Kerowyn, Elrohir and Elladan began to snicker while Iodhil couldn't hold in his laughter any longer and started to crack up. They noticed that Legolas was soaked from head to toe, the cause of his fall, and that Iodhil & Elladan were slightly damp from running behind him.
Legolas got up carfully so as to not fall again, then with a furious expression he looked up to the black haired girl standing a few meters in front of them all. She looked around a moment, noticeing she had made a bad choice by running into a room with no other doors when she saw a balcony. Quickly, she turned, ran and jumped from the balcony. Everyone's eyes widened and Kerowyn shrieked as all ran to look over the balcony but Luna. Her healing injuries as well as a thought stopped her. "She'll be okay. Wait. What?! She just jumped off a balcony, why would I think she'd be okay??!!!!" she thought and then walked over to the rest.
Luckily they saw no dead body for after the girl jumped off the balcony she swung around on a large branch of a very near tree and made a perfect landing on the ground...... only to get up, run 5 feet and trip over a root from the same tree. After which she got up again and continued running towards the woods, she was now out of sight. "That was gaceful... minus the fall..." mumbled Iodhil.
"What in Middle-Earth was that about? And why are you wet?" asked Elrond, turning to Legolas. Iodhil began snikering once again,
"It was hilarious! That girl ran into Legolas and made him fall in the river. He was--"
"Ah, shut up, you!" snapped Legolas, he really didn't want to be wet right now.
"Anyway, she ran and Legolas chased her." finished Elladan, grinning slightly.
"Did any of you guys know who that was? I've never seen her before." said Kerowyn.
"I think we'd remember someone who dresses like that." said Luna.
"Ada, do you know her?" asked Elladan.
"No, I do not... She must be new to Rivendell." replied Elrond.
"I don't care who she is..." mumbled Legolas as he left the room to go change. Iodhil and Elladan snickered and left, while Luna, Kerowyn, Elrohir and Elrond were left to contimplate what they had just seen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Slowly walking through the forest, the black haired girl stopped to look at the sunlight that floated through the trees, she sighed. "That was dumb... I should of just said something... oh well..." she began to stretch her arms, "I just hope I didn't make too bad of a first impression..." she began chuckling to herself unsurely.
"Quiet a specticale you made back there." said a voice from behind. She whirled around to see Iodhil looking back at her, grining. Now that Iodhil could get a better look at this girl, he realized just how unusual her clothing was. She wore a strapless, dark green "dress" that stopped at her mid thigh with a loose brown leather belt around her waist, underneath she wore dull, dark green tights with brown boots. She also wore bright green arm warmers which went up to her shoulders and curved outwards with black gloves over them. On a chain around her neck was a green crystal with what looked like smoke inside; Her soul song. "Most Elves wouldn't want such attention to be placed on them, but you did not seem to care." Iodhil said, refering to both her antics and her sense of fashion.
"Yes, well, most Elves care about their reputation more than having fun... and most elven women wear dresses... but I'm not like most Elves." she retorted a little snippily. Iodhil laughed,
"I can see that... So you ran from my brother because you thought it was fun?"
"No. What else was I supposed to do?"
"You could of apoligized." Iodhil remarked.
"Yes, that would've been the smarter choice, wouldn't it?" She said, poking fun at herself as she leaned against a tree.
"Well, it would have definitly been easier." he laughed again.
"Hmph. Easy, isn't the path I like to stay on, if you understand my meaning.".
"..... My name's Iodhil." .
"I'm Elenwe." she replied as she turned & disappeared into the shadows of the trees before Iodhil could say anything. He looked on in wonder for a moment before he began walking back and started chuckling.
Elenwe watched Iodhil leave from the shadows. She still remained a bit uneasy around all of these Elves. A purring sound came from behind her and she turned to pat her 'steed', wondering what this experience would be like.
"What do you think, Cyali? ...Can we find a little peace here?" The creature made a noise that sounded somthing like a cross between a growl, purr and neigh. Elenwe sighed. "Yeah... I hope so too....."
&&&&The Next Day&&&&
Kerowyn, the twins, Luna, Lindir, Legolas, and Iodhil were all gathered around on the river bank talking about, yet again, this and that. Elenwe had been strolling through the trees...yet again(technically all night), when she noticed their little congrigation. She stood next to a tree watching them, they were indeed an interesting group of elves, and she wanted to know more about them. She stared at the stern blonde elf maiden clad in blue and silver. This elf seemed to catch her attention, but she knew not why. Luna glanced upwards, "I'll be right back."
"Where-" started Elrohir only for Luna to reply,
"I'll be back in a second." as she walked off. Elenwe noticed that most of the group was wearing robes of higher elves,
"Hmmmn..." she wondered aloud.
"Hi there." came from behind her suddenly and Elenwe gave out a shriek just before losing her balance and falling into the deeper part of the river. Everyone looked over at Luna, who was staring at the spot where Elenwe had just fallen in. They all put two and two together in their heads and starred to see what would happen next. As Luna stared, time passed and the bubbles on the waters surface began to deminish, "Where is she?" asked Kerowyn, imidiately realizing the horror they all suddenly knew. The air bubbles stopped completely and Luna shrieked, "Ah crap!! I killed her!!". All of the guys quickly stripped the outer layers of their clothing & dived in after her as Luna and Kerowyn stood wide eyed. Elladan came up,
"I don't see her!"
"Keep looking!" yelled Lindir in return. All of the guys were franticly looking for the elven girl's body when a loud whistel caught Luna's and Kerowyn's attention. Both turned to see a soaked Elenwe waving at them from the bank further away.
"You...!!!" shouted Luna, as she started chasing Elenwe around the bank. The twins looked up in reponse to the yells coming from them.
"I know I deserved that, but not from you!" shouted Elenwe in her defense.
"Well, try not spying on people next time!!" yelled Luna.
"I wasn't spying! I was just listening intently near a tree!!" Elenwe stopped, then dove back into the river for cover. "Jeez, I think it's safer in here!" she said, after coming up for air. By this time all of the guys were watching a little dumbstruck: they had droven into the river for nothing! Kerowyn laughed,
"Hey, that looks like fun!" she jumped in next to Elenwe with a splash. Luna stared at them, shook her head then sighed,
"Ah, screw it!" she said, taking off her outter robe and jumping in too. Elrohir blinked,
"What just happened here?". Luna had come up from the water for only a minute, when Elenwe splashed her. Luna looked up calmly (at least it looked that way) at the unknown elf,
"Did you just splash me?" her only answer was laughter from Elenwe.
"Hey, I've got something else for ya, Luna!" said Kerowyn as she threw a fish at her. The fish hit Luna in the face and plopped back into the water, Luna picked it up by the tale, it was now dead.
"......Okay, Ker. I'll tell the cooks you want this for dinner.".
"Noooo!!" cryed Kerowyn looking distressed as Elenwe couldn't help but die in laughter. Luna looked at her and threw the fish in Elenwe's face, which resulted in a full on splashing war between Luna, Kerowyn, and Elenwe.
The guys had just gotten out of the water and were watching them, a little confused. This was defineitely too friendly for people who had never met before, esspecially Luna. "Wow...'interesting' doesn't begin to cover this..." said Iodhil, scratching his head and raising an eyebrow. The girls were finally done playing in the water and were swimming towards them when Elenwe smiled,
"Hi, Iodhil.". Everyone looked at Iodhil, "You know her?" arose from all their lips. The girls climbed out of the river, "Actually... I met him yesterday after I was chased into the woods." said Elenwe inbetween breathes. "I'm Elenwe... I guess it's a little more than obvious that I'm new to Rivendell." she laughed.
"Well, you certainly know how to make an impression." said Kerowyn smiling. After a series of introductions, Elenwe eyed Luna a bit closer and had a great suspision about her and a random thought crept into Luna's mind.
"Do you have a place to stay?" she asked.
"Ahhh... No, unfortunitly, since you ask.... Why?"
"You can use the spare bedroom in my chambers." said Luna. This new Elf stirred her curiousity greatly, she was so unusual...on top of which she seemed familar, but strange.
"So, what kind of Elf are you?" asked Kerowyn, cutting off Elenwe's "Thank you." with her own curiousity. Elenwe's features seemed to strike them all as foreign, even thought the colors of her clothes made her look of Western Silvan disent.
"Actually...... I'm only Half Elf... but my elven blood is Drow." Elenwe replied scratching the back of her head. They all hesitated, not knowing what to say. Drow Elves weren't exactly common in Rivendell, let alone anywhere else. They had never even heard another Elf in Rivendell talk about meeting one before. Elenwe turned to Luna, "I'm sorry, but I did not recieve your name..."
"Oh, I thought I gave it to you... I'm Luna of Nilmar." Elenwe suddenly smiled and took Luna's hand.
"Im noldo hin nant nurul ye! Ye na ithil ara!*" She said criptically. Luna echoed everyone's thoughts,
"What?" Elenwe suddenly realized she didn't understand. ((*I thought there was something about you! You are Moon Royalty!-- Non-Tolkien Language.))
"Oh, sorry. That was idiotic of me, you would not know what I said. Heh. But I knew it! You are the moon Elf! I'm so happy I get to meet you!" She smiled.
"Well..." said Luna, changing the subject. She wondered how Elenwe was related to Elrond as she glanced as the setting sun, "Come with me and we'll get you settled in."
"Alright."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I can't tell you how much this means to me." said Elenwe, smiling at Luna as she gave her her clothes back, now dry.
"Don't mention it", Elenwe smelled her clothes,
"Ah, fresh linen!" She smiled brightly and held the fabrics to her face. It had been some time since she last had a place to spen the night that offered such service. Luna smiled slightly and walked into another room,
"Would you like some tea?" Elenwe said yes and walked to the table, setting her clothes there for the moment. Luna returned with a kettle of semi warm tea for both of them, "Not to pry--But I've been wondering... Elrond, Lord of Rivendell is a half-elf, but he is not Drow... How are you related?" Elenwe looked at Luna with a confused expression,
"Huh? I'm not related to him. Oh! ...You see I'm a half-elf through direct dissention... My Ada was a Drow elf and my Nanneth was a human. I'm techincally the first of my kind." Luna had difficulty trying to not choke on her tea,
"A direct dissendant?!" she coughed. Luna looked at this new elven maiden in wonder, she not a tipical elf in every way-- through dissent, personality or fashion sense. Elenwe answered Luna's look with her own, which had "Why is that a big deal?" written all over it. Luna came to the sudden realization to why she had these odd feelings about Elenwe. She was a Drow Elf, an Elf of darkness. It was no wonder that the two different spieces of Night Elves would be drawn to one another. Elenwe had come to this conculsion earlier.
"I'm going to go put these away" Elenwe said, picking up her clothes. She turned to the door of her new bedroom, but as she opened the door an ice cold bucket of water fell on her. She dropped the clothes on the floor ((though they're still dry--don't ask me how, I don't now either)) and shrieked. Luna dashed to the doorway,
"What?!" she looked at Elenwe, then the bucket and imidiatly knew who had done this. Elenwe picked up the bucket and turned it over, there she saw a short message which read: "Welcome to Rivendell! --Legolas" in common speech. Luna knew Legolas was just getting her back for earlier, but Elenwe was ticked,
"Which room belongs to Legolas?!"
"Second on the left." answered Luna, who followed Elenwe out the door and towards Legolas' room. Luna had to see this. Elenwe threw open the door startling both Legolas and Elrohir, who had been conversing quietly.
"What the--" said Elrohir just before Luna pulled him aside to watch. Elenwe threw the bucket and hit the space next to Legolas.
"I may have made you fall into the river, but that was an accident! Of all the nerve...!!" Legolas snickered, looked up at Elenwe and pointed at her,
"Cold, are we?". Elenwe glanced downward and blushed. It was definatly the wrong thing to say, Legolas found out, as Elenwe slapped him across the face in anger, "This means war!!!" she shouted. Luna and Elrohir heard both the slap and the shout as they walked away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After drying herself off and changing... again, Elenwe layed on her bed staring at the ceiling. She crossed her arms behind her head and began to hit her foot against the wall. "There's got to be a way I can get him back... and good." she said to herself. After a moments pause she stopped tapping her foot, "I got it!" she sat up and walked to a set of cubords in another room. She opened a few doors and found exactly what she was looking for, she snickered. This was gonna be great!
Elenwe cept down the empty hallway quietly so as to not attract attention from the elves already in their rooms. She stopped at a door and tapped it quietly, Elrohir answered after a minute.
"Elenwe...? What're you...?".
"Shhh..." she held her index finger to her mouth. "I need to talk to you." said Elenwe.
&&&&The Next Day&&&&
Luna awoke and walked down a hallway of the Last Homely House. "Morning, Luna!" said Kerowyn catching up to her.
"Morning, Ker." as they walked further they noticed the twins, Lindir & Iodhil standing by the railing. "What're all of you doing here?" asked Luna, she had never known so many of them to gather this early in the morning.
"Ask him." said Elladan, pointing to his brother.
"You'll see." he responed with a grin. After a few minutes of waiting, like clock work, Elenwe rushed around the corner, stopped and bent over in front of Elrohir. She was gasping for air as if she had never done so in her life and was trying to catch up for all the time she had wasted. Her face was red, her eyes were clapped shut, and she was dying of laugher. Through her hard breathes & laughs they could hear,
"He-- ...it worked!!" Elrohir grinned wider and they heard a yell that was worthy of the battlefield echo down the hall. Elenwe had just caught her breath as Legolas dashed around the corner after her. Elrohir died in laughter, while the rest had their jaws hanging from their skulls. Elenwe attempted to run from him again, but after a moment she had to slump against a wall, she was laughing even harder now. Everyone began to hold their sides as they were in histerics and pointed at Legolas. There he stood, furious, a towel around his shoulders and......... with bright, neon pink hair!!!!!
"Shut up!! ...Shut up!!!" he yelled in vein. After a minute everyone began to calm down and gained enough composer to speak. "Elenwe!!!" shouted Legolas, walking up to her, "You did this!!!" Elenwe smiled brightly and began to laugh again. "Wait a min--" Legolas turned and walked up to Elrohir, he knew she couldn't have gotten into his shampoo without Elrohir seeing. "You--!! You let her??!!". Elrohir grinned,
"Hey, it was a choice, and I was rooting for her anyway." he said, pointing to Elenwe and chuckling. Luna raised her hand,
"I was rooting for her too... but I didn't know about this..." she said. Legolas looked at them all,
"So how many of you were rooting for me?" he asked, no one said anything.
"Ha! Yes!" said Elenwe, Legolas turned to her, "Hey, it's what you get. Like I said before me pushing you into the river was an accident, but you with the bucket? ...You had to know I would get you back with an even better prank..." she said.
"She's right, ya know." said Elladan,
"Yup!" responned Iodhil.
"Troose?" smiled Elenwe, holding out her hand. Legolas sighed,
"How long will it be until this washes out?"
"2 months!" said Elenwe with a grin.
"2 months?!" he shouted, Iodhil began to laugh again,
"You're gonna be the laughing stock of Rivendell and Mirkwood!" Legolas clenched his teeth and took a deep breath,
"Fine." he said sternly, shaking her hand before turning and leaveing. Elrond was walking down the hall as Legolas left, he stopped dead in his tracks and stared at him. "Please, don't ask." said Legolas, continueing on. As he walked out of sight of everyone, Legolas smirked, he had to admit that was a pretty good prank. Elrond turned to everyone else, who began to laugh yet again. It was just too hilarious!!
