Meeting of Fate

((in Need of MAJOR editing and work))

Elrohir watched as the gray land loomed ever closer. He was in a ship…with his twin, Legolas, Lindir, and a strange dwarf named Gimli. He shivered in the cold wind, and looked at the land. “I wish…” He left the sentence hanging. Granted, it had been well over four hundred years since Luna’s Death…not it had only been a few years since Arwen’s and Estel’s deaths as well. He mourned the losses. As he stared at the land, he reflected on all that had happened to him. There was meeting Luna…and killing her father, then losing his mother, then meeting all his friends of today, except Elenwe…the list went on, and on, and on. A voice interrupted his thoughts. “Gwador…we are there.” Elladan said. He pointed to the dock that was connected to the boat. Elrohir nodded and grabbed his pack. Together, the group stepped off the boat. Elrohir shaded his eyes against the sunlight, searching for a familiar figure.

“Elrohir!” He heard an exclamation. In the next moment Linwe was hugging him. He dropped his bag and hugged her back. “Linwe!” he said. He hadn’t seen the healer since she left for Valinor many many many centuries ago. The two released, and Elrohir was glad to see the spark of life back in Linwe’s eyes, the sparkle that had disappeared when she left for Valinor. She smiled, and another person tapped her on the shoulder. Elrohir’s eyes immediately filled with tears.

“Ada!” He whispered, and was immediately in his fathers embrace. “Ion-nin!” Elrond said, hugging his youngest twin tightly. Elladan was in a similar position with the twins mother. The two parents switched, and Elrohir found himself in his mother’s arms.

“Nanneth…” He smiled. He missed his mother so much…everything about her, her scent, her hair…everything. She hugged him, and smiled at him through tears in her eyes. Finally the group stopped hugging and started walking toward where Elrond and Celebrian were living. Lindir, Legolas, and Gimli trailed along, not having anywhere to go. Suddenly a shout caught everyone’s attention, and Lindir dropped his bags.

“LINDIR!” Kerowyn’s voice rang out. She ran past everyone and into her husband’s arms. Lindir embraced his wife, and she clung to him, weeping. “You’re here! You’re here!” She repeated over and over. Everyone smiled, and Celebrian touched Elrohir’s shoulder. “Come…let us leave them alone.” She led the group, now missing Lindir to the house, and into the sitting room.

“My sons…how was the journey…and my…I have missed you both so much!” She said, tears still in her eyes. The group talked animatedly for a few minutes, until a maid interrupted the conversation and whispered something in Celebrian’s ear. Celebrian nodded, and the maid left, to return a few minutes later.

“my sons…and Legolas…there is someone I would like you to meet.” Celebrian turned to the door way, where the maid and another figure was standing. The maid bowed, and the figure walked in. It was a blond elf with piercing gray eyes, dressed in a red and gold robe, with her hair in an intricate knot in the back of her head. She inclined her head to both Celebrian and Elrond then turned to look at the others in the room. Her eyes lingered on Elrohir…

Elrohir looked at the strange elf, and his eyes filled with tears…how much she looked like Luna. But Luna was dead, there was no way. Besides…there were many elves that looked like her.

Elladan looked at the elf with interest in his eyes. His mind too flashed to Luna, but he rejected the idea.

Legolas looked at the elf, then at Gimli. The dwarf’s eyes were wide, and he had paled. “I used to think Galadriel was the fairest of all…I may have been wrong.” Legolas laughed and said, “There are many elves that you will say this too.” Legolas looked back at the elf. Like the others he thought of Luna, but with the longing for a friend.

The elf smiled and Celebrian moved to introduce her. “My sons…Legolas…Gimli, this is Princess Solaris of the Sun elves…a race of elves only found here in Valinor. Solaris…these are my sons, Elrohir, and Elladan, and This is Legolas, and this dwarf is Gimli.” When Celebrian said there names, each elf stood and inclined their heads. Solaris smiled and nodded. Then she went and sat down next to Elrohir.

“I had hoped you would recognize me.” She said to Elrohir. He was startled.

“But I don’t know you…how would I recognize you?” He asked, confused. The others were watching the exchange with interest, and Elrond and Celebrian were smiling, a mischievous smile that only they could share with each other.

Solaris rolled her eyes. “I wonder what would have happened if I had not died.” She said, a sarcastic edge coming to her voice. Elrohir was surprised at the bitterness in the voice. But it was gone in the next moment. “I’m your wife you idiot! Luna!” She said, and his eyes widened.

“but—but—how?!” He asked dumbstruck. She smiled.

“Moon-elves are re-incarnated as Sun-Elves…no one knows why.” She said a smile at her lips. He looked at her, awestruck, and in the next moment he kissed her. She nearly swooned. Elladan whooped and Legolas and Gimli laughed. The couple separated, Luna a bright pink. He smiled and the two embraced. Elladan stood up and grinned.

“I know you have been separated from your wife for a very long time,” Elladan said, laughing. “But Let me talk to my friend and sister-in-law!” He said, and Luna stood up. Elladan grabbed her and hugged her. “You nearly killed your husband with grief you know?” He said. She looked down, and he pulled on her chin. “But…hey…if we had known that you would greet us here, we would have come all the more sooner!” Elladan said. Luna laughed and pulled Elladan’s nose. He grimaced. “That’s one habit I thought you had gotten rid of…” Luna smiled.

“I couldn’t resist.” She said, and grinned. Legolas stood.

“My turn!” He said, and came forward, and hugged Luna. “Mellon-nin…don’t do that again…okay?” He told her. Luna nodded.

“Promise.”

“Good.”

There was a noise at the doorway, and there stood Elenwe, with papers in her arms. Legolas walked over to the middle of the room, and watched as she walked past him.

“Hi Legolas.” She said, and walked some more, then stopped and dropped the papers, eyes going wide. She turned and looked at Legolas, disbelief in her eyes. “Legolas?!” She exclaimed. He nodded, and opened his arms and Elenwe flew into them. “Melda-nin!” She pretty much screamed. Legolas grabbed her, and the two turned. She kissed him and smiled. “I missed you!” She said. Legolas smiled and hugged her, breathing in the familiar scent of her darker then ebony locks. Gimli stood there a moment, mouth agape. Suddenly he shut his mouth and walked over to Luna and bowed.

“Gimli, son of Gloin, at your service.” He said, in a proper greeting. Luna bowed her head and smiled.

“Luna, daughter of Garaden, and your service and your family’s.” She said, returning the dwarfish greeting. Gimli blinked. “I did not think you would know that greeting.” He said amazed. Luna laughed.

“I know many things…I fought alongside some dwarves once…” She laughed. Gimli nodded and went and stood next to Elenwe, and bowed before her. “Gimli…son of Gloin…at your service.” He said, muffling his words with a hand over his mouth. Truly, he has not seen this many graceful and beautiful creatures in one room. Elenwe laughed. “Cat got your tongue? Or pick-axe got it stuck to the roof of your mouth?” She said, laughing. Gimli turned beet red.

“Elenwe…queen of the Drow…at your service, Gimli, friend of my husband” She responded, this time using a different greeting, a less formal one, this one extending friendship. Gimli smiled, and nodded, then kissed her hand. “And never was a Queen of a race any fairer.” He said, blushing. Elenwe smiled.

“Such lies he speaks!” She said in elfish to Luna. Luna laughed. “Accept his word…he may prove to be a useful ally in battle…and he is your husband’s friend.” Luna answered back in Elfish. Then she stood next to Gimli.

“I hope you will accept this token of friendship.” She said, and took off a pendant from her finger, and handed it to him. It was a sun, and a moon conjoined. Gimli took it and stared awestruck. He would have said something is Kerowyn and Lindir had not arrived at the door then. Lindir took one look, saw Luna and burst into tears. He ran to her and hugged her. “luna!” He said, sobbing. She patted his shoulder awkwardly. Gimli’s eyes widened at the subbing of the elf and he looked at Elenwe. “might I ask what happened to make everyone so emotional?” He asked. Elenwe nodded. Elrond interrupted before she could say anything.

“Everyone take a seat, and we will explain, for everyone’s benefit…including Gimli’s.” Everyone nodded, and sat down.

Elrond started the story. “You see Gimli…Luna and Elrohir, Elladan, Elenwe, Legolas, Lindir, and one other were called to a battle. Of all of them, Luna did not return home in good health. She…” Luna interrupted.

“I had been caught in a knot of orcs on my own, and was buried under some rubble from a village. Elrohir found me, and that’s all I can really remember.” She said. Elrond took over the story.

“They brought her back to Rivendell, and she lie in a coma for weeks. She came out of it for a brief time…to say goodbye to us, it seemed. Within minutes of waking up, she died.”

Gimli gasped and looked at Luna in amazement. “Then how in Mordor are you here?!” he asked.

Luna smiled. “I was the last of a moon-elf…an eternal race, in essence. When we die, our souls move to a new host…the sun. The sun-god created our bodies in the images we were originally in, and let us keep all memories. So…when they buried me, they released my soul so I could move to my new life as a sun-elf.” She said.

Elrohir realized something. “All moon-elves are re-incarnated as sun-elves?” He asked. Luna nodded. “That means…Luna….your father is alive!” He said. Luna, Elrond, Celebrian, Kerowyn, and Elenwe looked down, and Luna spoke up, bitterness in her voice. “Yes…he is, the bastard.” She said.

Gimli looked confused again, and this time Luna answered. “My father is…well…he has quite a temper.” She said, and left it at that. Suddenly a maid came to the door again. “Lady Solaris…your mother has sent a page. You are needed at home right away.”

Luna nodded once and stood. “All of you, come and join me for supper tonight, it is tradition that those who sail, and their loved onces join us for supper. I’ll hope to see you.”

“Of course” Everyone chorused.
