Isil i Mornie

The hour struck ten and the birds began to sing their morning songs. Kerowyn bounded down the steps of The Last Homely House steadily making her way to Luna's and Elenwe's cottage. With a great smile she knocked on the door. Humming a gentle, but sprightly tune, she waited. No answer. Kerowyn knocked again and a few minutes went by, but still no answer. She placed her hand upon the handle and pushed the door open. She stared at the door baffled as she stepped inside. Luna would never leave the door unlocked and she had taught Elenwe that when she first moved in, so why was it open now? Quietly Kerowyn tip toed into the cottage. It was as silent as the dead, she thought and a chill ran through her. Through the entry hall, right turn and to the first door on the left she came to Elenwe's room. She propped it open to pear inside, no one was there. Where could they be then? If Elenwe was Kerowyn wouldn't even have to check Luna's room, she knew she'd be up to. Sighing she walked back to the entry hall, there she stopped. Was that... snoring? Leaning around the corner and looking into the living room, she saw a brown boot daggling from the sofa. Kerowyn stepped in to have a better look and what a sight she saw. Luna was slumping in a chair asleep, her head fallen to the side and her arms over the arm rests. Elenwe was lying on the sofa, on her side, resembling a sprawled out cat. Kerowyn looked at the small table between them. There sat an open envelope, a folded letter and two glasses with a small amount of dark liquid in the bottom. Kerowyn smirked and clasped her hands around her mouth.

"GOOD MORNING, SUNSHINES!!!!" immediately groans and moans came from her friends as they began to stir. Luna looked at her then covered her face,

"Ugggg.... Why does my head feel like it's about to burst?" Elenwe nodded. Kerowyn shook her head.

"Never mind that, we're going to be late because of you two!" Luna stood up slowly as Elenwe curled herself into a ball,

"Late for what?" Kerowyn stamped her foot.

"The picnic!! You know...? Near Turtle Pond?" the two thought for a moment. Meahan had stumbled upon a spot in the forest a way from Rivendell that she had thought was a great place for a picnic and Elladan thought that was a great idea. "However, I would like to know why you two are like this." Elenwe uncurled herself,

"Why are we like this again...?’Cause my head really hurts...." Luna picked up the letter that sat on the table.

"This came yesterday night. It's from Fai, but it's in Drowish... I could only make out part of the end. 'Here is something that will brighten up the night for you...' He sent this with the letter." Luna grabbed a bottle sitting by the chair and held it up for Elenwe to see. Elenwe sat up holding her head then grabbed an empty glass and sniffed the rim.

"You idiot!!! That's Dracnuwa!!! It's strong Drowish ALE!!!!" Luna blinked and stared at the bottle,

"...oh...."

"How did you get me to drink that???!!!!!" Luna tried to think back.

"I think I put it in your cup and just told you to drink...." she said looking up in thought. Elenwe stood up and grabbed the letter from Luna's hand to read it:

 <><><>

Dearest Nesselli,

Turath, Moriwen, Nora and myself shall be coming to Rivendell on Elenya to visit you. Elrond sent in a letter about the feast they were having to celebrate something or other, so I decided we should come and convinced Turath! Elrond also said in his letter that both you and our Vani-ithil-hiril*, Luna, were suffering of irritable-ness. I decided I must take action so I sent you this. Don't bother storing it, it shall go bad soon. But I'm quite sure it will brighten up the night for you two!

With all my deepest care, (*Fair-Moon-Lady)

Your one and only, Loveable

FAIDURLINDE

Elenwe sat smoldering for a moment as she stared at the letter, "FFFFAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She and Luna grasped their heads and moaned. "Great! Elenya is tomorrow, there's no time to send him a letter telling him not to come."

"You mean a letter cursing him out?" asked Luna.

"Same thing." said Elenwe. Kerowyn cocked her head to the side,

"You mean you two are hung over...? Well, how about getting something from Sanarium before we leave?" Luna and Elenwe quickly went and changed into fresh clothes and made their way for the door. Upon opening it to the shining light of day they both squinted and held up their hands. How did it get so bright?

"Tell me, Elenwe..." said Luna as they walked to the healing wings, "What level is this Dracnuwa on?"

"It's known for making the drinker drunk with the first cup...." As they got medicine from Sanarium, Kerowyn rushed to tell the others that they were coming. Upon the two maiden's arrival Lindir cracked a smile and said,

"So, was your night cheerful?" They both shot him death glares and the twins chuckled. Kerowyn smiled at the joke, but knew her husband had set himself in a place of impending doom.

"Can we just go already?" snapped Elenwe. Meahan seconded the motion and they set out for what she had named Turtle Pond. It took only a half an hour to get there and when they did all looked in wonder at the beautiful little spot. The grass was a vibrant lime green and the leaves of the surrounding trees were evergreen. The sunlight shinned brightly and butterflies danced about the small open area. The clear and clean water sparkled as the minuscule turtles swam about and sunbathed on the rocks of the tiny waterfall. Flowers of pink and yellow lined the stones and edge of the forest.

"See! What did I tell you? It's beautiful." Meahan exclaimed. They set up the picnic as Meahan and Kerowyn prepared the food. Luna stretched herself out and winced as the pounding in her head increased ten-fold. The moon-less nights were starting that night, so she was already not feeling to bright. Elrohir moved next to her, and Luna lifted her a head a fraction and put onto Elrohir's lap, and promptly fell asleep. Elenwe sat in the warm sunlight, and smelled the fresh scent in the air.

Kerowyn smiled when she saw Luna sleeping in Elrohir's lap. "Looks like she is exhausted..." She said quietly. Elrohir looked down at the blonde elf and nodded.

"For many reasons, tonight being the first of the Moonless nights not helping her."

Kerowyns eyes darkened slightly. She had forgotten about that. But there was nothing she could do. There was nothing anyone could do, except steer clear of the blonde warrior.

Elenwe sighed contendly. "Meahan...have I told you what a good idea this was?" She asked somewhat lazily as she relaxed half in the shade, and half in the sunlight.

Meahan giggled, a light tinkling sound. "No, but thank you. Fruit?" Elenwe nodded and took the offered piece of fruit and admired the color for a moment. The reddest rasberries could be found near the pond, and Elenwe knew that eventually she would be so full of them, she wouldn't be able to move.

Elladan seated himself next to his twin and was talking quietly, probably about nothing more than the niceness of the day, while Kerowyn, Lindir, Meahan, and Elenwe began to talk quietly of other good spots for picnics. Luna slept on, her brow furrowed as she struggled to sleep through her headache.
