Linwe sighed as she finished separating the herb and putting them in her clay pots. The healing wing was empty for once…Luna had left it early in the morning. With the twins, Kerowyn, and Lindir all headed to, or already in Mirkwood, the land seemed eerily quiet. There was a soft knock on the door that conjoined the healing wing to her chamber. “yes?” Linwe asked. Sanariam poked her head in.
“Linwe, the healing wing is clean, and the linens aired and everything smells wonderful, not at all like the healing wing normally does. Is there anything else that I or we need to do?” Sanariam was beginning to look hopeful, she wanted to be home with her husband and three elflings. Linwe smiled gently upon her young protégé.
“No, there is nothing else that we can do, the room looks wonderful. Go home and be with your family. Thank-you Sanariam.” Linwe turned back to her jars and Sanariam smiled, and left the room. Linwe sighed again. Sanariam was one of her few friends. Linwe was not blessed with a love like everyone else. Luna had Elrohir-Though if Linwe knew Luna, Luna wasn’t complaining about the solitude-Kerowyn had Lindir, Elladan had Amber, and Sanariam had her husband, Searyn, and three children. Linwe sighed again. The only elf that she had even come close to loving lived in Lorien, somewhere away from her, and that was mean. But she understood why…he needed to be near his sister in her time of need. Were he not there, his sister, Elanae, would fade. Linwe put the rest of her pots on their proper shelves and quickly left the room. Too many pensive thoughts for the day.
She walked, to where, she was not sure. But she was not surprised when she ended up at Luna’s door. She knocked softly. “Come in Linwe!” Linwe shook her head amazed. Luna always knew who came to her door, to the complete dismay of the twin pranksters. Luna looked up from her book, her ankle still wrapped and elevated.
“Hullo Linwe, are you looking for a companion?” Luna asked, a twinkle in her eye. Linwe smiled, and nodded.
“Yes, indeed. There is no one in my healing wards today. Amazing isn’t it?” Linwe laughed.
Luna grinned, happy about Linwe joining her. It wasn’t often that Linwe came from the healing wings, she was too busy with taking care of everyone, mortal or elf, that came through Rivendell.
